The fourth tropical depression of the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane season formed Saturday over the Turks and Caicos and tropical storm warnings were issued for the Bahamas.
The weather system, which poses no threat to Louisiana, is expected to become a tropical storm and then a hurricane.
The tropical depression was forecast to produce 4 to 8 inches of rainfall over the Bahamas.
The National Hurricane Center has the system remaining off the U.S. east coast for several days, heading northwest and then making a turn to the northeast.
It could become tropical storm on Sunday and a hurricane by Tuesday.
