The latest in a string of robberies in the French Quarter and Marigny occurred around 10:20 p.m Wednesday in the 1000 block of Governor Nichols Street.
The NOPD reports that three men were approached by eight black males armed with guns and knives. One of the victims was stabbed several times before the robbers made off with personal property from all three victims. There was no immediate word on the man's condition.
There have now been at least 8 reported robberies in the Quarter and the Marigny since December 10.
The victims were 9 men and 5 women. Some of them were pistol-whipped and some were hit with pepper spray.
The NOPD has released surveillance video of the suspected robbers and hopes that citizens will review the video and help identify the men involved.
The commander of the NOPD's 8th District tells FOX 8 that 200 officers will be deployed in the French Quarter and downtown area this weekend to provide enhanced security for those visiting the city for the New Orleans Bowl football game on Saturday morning.
