St. Tammany Parish Council Chairman Jerry Binder says he expects the Council will name an interim coroner at its regular meeting on Thursday, Nov. 7.
"Our Council meeting is on Thursday night at 6pm. It is on the agenda," Binder said in an interview with 99.5FM.
Three physicians have applied for the job. They are Pramod Menon, a partner at Cardiovascular Associates, LLC, of Covington; Dr. Adrian Talbot, director of Medical Care Center in Slidell; and Dr. Robert Fortier-Bensen, an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist in Mandeville.
Binder says Council members will have the opportunity to interview the applicants on Tuesday at 5:30pm at the Council office.
The interim coroner will serve until an election is held in April to fill the unexpired term of Peter Galvan, who resigned and then pleaded guilty to a federal corruption charge.
