The New Orleans Police Department hopes to continue to draw interest through a recruiting website as officials seek to add 150 to the department's ranks in 2014.
Supt. Ronal Serpas tells Rush Radio 99.5 WRNO that joinNOPD.org was redone this year and since the relaunch this summer it's been very successful.
"We've had nearly 2000 people download applications, we want to encourage them to finish that process and apply," Serpas said.
Serpas adds to hit the recruitment mark of 150, they probably need around 10,000 applicants. "We hire about one out of ten. That's how important it is for us to make the right choices with the brightest and the bravest people who want to be part of our department."
Interested applicants who visit joinNOPD.org will find out more about the hiring process, pay and possible assignments.
