A New Orleans attorney is a step closer to becoming the next U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Kenneth Polite's nomination for U.S. attorney was approved by voice vote by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday. The vote means the nomination goes to the full Senate for consideration.
Polite was nominated by President Obama after Sen. Mary Landrieu recommended him for the post.
Besides practicing law in New Orleans, Polite is a former New York City assistant U.S. attorney.
