Bollinger Shipyards of Lockport has a $250.7 million contract for six more fast response cutters for the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard said Wednesday that it had ordered the cutters for delivery in 2016.
They bring the total number of the boats under contract with Bollinger to 24, and the contract's total value so far to $1.1 billion.
Seven of the 154-foot boats have been delivered to the Coast Guard, and six have been commissioned. The seventh is to be commissioned in Key West, Fla., in November.
The Coast Guard said in 2009 that it plans to build 58 of the boats to replace aging 110-foot patrol boats.
U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu says the six additional boats will be homeported in Pascagoula, Miss.; Ketchikan, Alaska; and Honolulu.
